We build programs for Oregon public educators in every role, region, and stage of career.

The Initiative is a 501c9 non-profit and is unique in its dedication to the health, wellness, and resilience of public educators. All of our services are free.

We fund, design, and partner on programs through grants, collective impact partnerships, contracted services, research, and direct programs — whichever combination best serves the educators we’re trying to reach.

Educators at the center.

The health and wellness of Oregon educators drive our work. Every major decision is informed by what they say they need. We ask and listen through research, conversation and the lived experience of educators we work with every day.

Designing for everyone, investing where the need is greatest.

Our programs are built to reach every public educator, pre-K to Community College. We invest in sustainable programs that support lasting, systemic change and meet the unique needs of educators across the state.

Equity in practice.

We apply an equity lens to every decision, working to address the injustices, isolation, and marginalization that undermine wellness. We support educators of color, LGBTQ+, classified, and disabled staff as well as those living in rural communities.

Measuring what matters.

We track who our programs reach, how they’re working, and what’s not landing — we measure what we fund and we publish what we find.

Stronger together.

We build community and extend our impact through collaboration and collective action. Oregon has a strong network of organizations working on educator well-being. We collaborate with them rather than duplicate their work.
